Avenged Sevenfold fan Arron reviews his first A7X show in Oklahoma City

Avenged Sevenfold fan Arron was kind enough to share his experience of his first ever Avenged Sevenfold show in Oklahoma City on May 13th. Read it below!

So driving to Oklahoma City to watch Avenged Sevenfold was exciting but actually seeing them play in person was a feeling i cannot explain. Sitting through Bullet For My Valentine and Three Days Grace was awesome, but it came time for Avenged Sevenfold and the crowd couldn't have been more pumped and ready. As the stage was getting set up for A7X everyone started chanting "Sevenfold" and the anticipation couldn't have been any greater. As the guy hangs himself from the rafters, the organ in "Nightmare" starts, as Synyster Gates walks out first.Thats when i went nuts, because finally seeing the man thats the reason i started playing guitar, my favorite guitarist, and my hero right there in front of me was a feeling i didn't think i would ever experience.

as they go through their setlist they get to "Welcome To The Family" and since the Oklahoma City Thunder were playing that night, Shadows gave us a little update on the game. He said "It's a little chilly tonight, but theres 2 reasons thats okay. One Avenged Sevenfolds here to heat it up, and 2 the Thunder are beating the Grizzlies right now." as the WHOLE crowd went crazy, he continues to say "It's only Halftime, so if they lose, dont kill me, but im thinking their gunna win this game tonight" they wound up losing. after that, M.Shadows says "Who all are here seeing us for the first time" and half the crowd, including me, raised their hands and screamed, and M. Shadows says "Where have you been all of our life" he says "Well for all of you newcomers, welcome to our goddamn fucked up family". as the crowd cheers on, they start playing Welcome To The Family, followed by Almost Easy, and Buried Alive, then they played "So Far Away".

I had seen pictures before but WOW. the amount of lighters and cellphones being held up in respect for Jimmy was crazy. One of my favorite parts of the show is when they ended with Unholy Confessions. They stopped just before the end of the song, and M. Shadows says "This is my favorite part of the whole fucking show. i gotta see how big Oklahoma can get their circle pits" and tells Syn to start a riff, and they start playing Crossroads for about two or three minutes, which i wasn't expecting that at all, but as they went back into Unholy Confessions the pyro was AMAZING. the whole crowd was going in one big circle, fire everywhere, and when it ended, fireworks went off everywhere, and everyone was screaming.

As A7X go backstage, everyone chants as normal "One More Song", so when the guys came back onstage, they brought a beautiful piano with them, that i'd also seen in picture. As one light on the stage lights up the piano, Fiction starts playing. The most beautiful thing i've ever seen. When i mentioned earlier that there were alot of lighters and cellphones, it was nothing compared to when Fiction started playing. The whole Zoo Amphitheatre was lit up completely, and this was at 10 at night. As they ended their encore, and the whole show with Save Me, the crowd went WILD in the pits, and when the song was over everyone cheered, clapped, screamed, and chanted "Sevenfold", showing that the whole crowd was there for one thing and one thing only. Avenged Sevenfold.

For this being my first concert, and graduation present, it was the greatest thing that could have ever happened to me. It was by far the greatest day in my life. I'm so glad i finally got to see the men that made me who i am today. Thank You Avenged Sevenfold. Thank You Jimmy.
